We are very excited about “The Good Neighbor Initiative” at our church, The Fellowship of Joy. We believe this is the first step in positioning ourselves for a bold new day of urban ministry in the geographical center of a region that has the highest percentage of concentrated poverty in the nation, 17% unemployment, and sky-rocketing rates of homelessness leading the nation. In addition, Fresno has been called “the drunkest city in the nation” by Men’s Health Magazine. Fresno County farms produce 12% of the food consumed by Americans.
Fresno is a significant place with significant needs and The Fellowship of Joy and its sister churches at 4141 N. Fresno St. have a significant ministry. As a first and next step in developing our site as 4141 Ministries, a catalyst for new churches, communities, and bold initiatives, we need to define our space and create a safe zone for the church and the community.
